SynoBrowser for DSM
1.0.0-0001A Chromium-based web browser that runs on your Synology: pages load on the NAS and appear in a DSM window.
A native DSM app with tabs, an address bar, bookmarks and downloads.
Pages open on the NAS itself, so you reach what the NAS reaches: devices on your home network, even when you open DSM from away.
Features
The engine of Chrome
Chromium 156 renders modern sites the way Chrome does, video, fonts, emoji and Asian scripts included.
A real DSM window
SynoBrowser opens from the main menu like File Station: not one more tab in your browser.
Seen from the NAS
Open the page of your router, a camera or a printer on the local network from anywhere you can open DSM.
A profile per user
Every DSM user has their own cookies, sign-ins, bookmarks and history. Open tabs come back the next time.
Everything you need
Tabs, address suggestions, bookmarks, history, zoom, a context menu, site dialogs, file uploads and downloads saved to your computer.
Protected
Only a DSM session opens SynoBrowser, and the administrator decides who has access. Addresses of the NAS itself (localhost) are blocked to protect its services.

Questions and answers
Does sound work?
Not yet: video plays on screen, but page sound is not passed through in this first version.
Which NAS models are supported?
Synology models with an x86_64 processor (Intel or AMD) on DSM 7.0 or later. Expect about 300 to 500 MB of memory per user while browsing; 4 GB of RAM or more is recommended.
Is this Google Chrome?
It is the Chromium engine, in the build Google publishes for testing, with our own interface. There is no Google account and no sync.
Where is my data?
On the NAS, in the package folder, kept apart per DSM user. Settings → Clear cookies and site data removes it.
Does SynoBrowser cost anything?
No, it is free and has no ads. It is a project by IBCSC, a small Belgian IT team.
How do I check the downloaded file?
In Terminal, run the command below and compare the result with the SHA-256 fingerprint on the right. If a single character differs, do not open the file and write to us.
shasum -a 256 ~/Downloads/SynoBrowser-1.0.0-0001-x86_64.spk
